Artefact (or, Repatriation: The Musical) is the unapologetically heist-erical emo-rock musical about reclaiming what’s rightfully ours. Five overqualified and underprepared friends embark on one ambitious mission: break into the British Museum to steal stuff back. Stay calm, this is a re-robbery.
Take your seat for this in-development peek of the action as our rag-tag crew takes on montage sequences, kazoos, lasers and the British Monarchy. Featuring a live band and a surprisingly tasteful recorder solo, Artefact is the irreverent new musical destined to steal your heart along the way.
About this concert presentation
This is a script-in-hand presentation of the show’s current draft, with actors performing at mic stands. All performances of musicals during Hayes’s Festival of New Work are presentations, with no set or costumes, choreography, etc. The writer and/or composer will introduce the work at the start of the event.

The Writer: Lincoln Elliott (he/him)
Lincoln Elliott is a Wiradjuri performer, instrumentalist, writer, composer, and researcher. A NIDA graduate with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) and current PhD candidate at the University of New England, his work explores identity and self-determinism in contemporary Australian musical theatre. Lincoln has recently been awarded the Gloria Payten and Gloria Dawn Fellowship. Lincoln is a passionate advocate for arts accessibility and new Australian work, and regularly joins development workshops for new musicals. He is currently developing his original musical Artefact (or, Repatriation: The Musical) after a very successful workshop in 2025. Stage credits include over 60 theatre productions, workshops, and concerts across independent and commercial theatre. Highlights include: My Brilliant Career (Melbourne Theatre Company, Green Room Award: Best Ensemble); Sunshine Super Girl (Melbourne Theatre Company/Performing Lines; Green Room Award, nomination); Chimerica (Sydney Theatre Company); The Dismissal (Squabbalogic); On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (Squabbalogic); Picnic at Hanging Rock (KGM Theatricals, Joe’s Pub NYC); Ride the Cyclone, Phar Lap, Being Alive, The Hello Girls, If/Then, Tristan & Isolde, and Silver Tongue (Hayes Theatre Co); Misery Loves Company (Legit Theatre Co.); Ordinary Days (Alter Ego); Carrie: The Musical (Rock Bottom); Nails Must Be Kept Short (Unfunded Empathy); and his own research-based experimental song-cycle Share-House. On-screen Lincoln can be seen in leading roles in numerous acclaimed short films, feature film The Choice, web-series Flat-Packed (also writer & producer) and upcoming series Maarte (also script/story editor & producer). Voice-over work includes commercials, animation, scripted podcasts, and audiobooks.

Accessible seating

Is the venue accessible?
Hayes Theatre Co is accessible to everyone. We encourage all customers with access requirements to get in touch with us so we can discuss your requirements. Our theatre includes road-to-stage step-free access, and we have several dedicated accessible seating areas.
A lift operates from the theatre entrance to the foyer and entry to the auditorium is via the side door located off the balcony for those who have difficulty managing stairs. Please speak to the Box Office Assistant upon arrival at your performance to arrange access. Our staff and volunteer crew will assist in navigating these access points.

Are there restrooms available on-site?
Yes, we have multiple restrooms on-site! At Hayes we welcome gender diversity and encourage everyone to use the restroom that best fits your gender identity or expression.
There is one accessible toilet on the foyer level. There are also two ambulant toilets located within the male and female bathrooms.

Is there parking available?
Discount parking is available from the Kings Cross Parking Station (entrance on Ward Avenue). Bring your parking ticket with you to the theatre and have it validated at our Box Office for $18 parking. Further discounts apply for parking after 6pm or on weekends.
Limited 1 hour (free after 5 pm) street parking is available around the area. Please note the parking signs as to restrictions.
