The Ring & I
Presented by Hayes Theatre Co
Pop culture’s favourite vengeful ghost is back, and she’s gonna sing about it.
50 years at the bottom of a well can sure get lonely, and only getting out on occasion to murder unsuspecting viewers of a Cursed Videotape isn’t as achievable in the streaming era.
It’s time for Sadako to reach new audiences by embracing the magic of live theatre to tell her tragic story, and maybe, just maybe, find love along the way.
Created by award-winning performer of stage and screen, Kimie Tsukakoshi (The Poison of Polygamy, Bureau of Magical Things) and comedian Jared Jekyll, writer-director of last year’s hit Adelaide Cabaret Festival show “Tired Ass Showgirls”, comes a pitch-black comedy cabaret and love letter to the Japanese Horror boom of the 2000s.
So, gather around that ominous ring of light for a night of toe-tapping and nervous laughter, as we voyage into a morbid abyss of intergenerational trauma, female rage, and rock ’n’ roll.
