After continued sell-out performances, Home Grown returns to the Hayes for a special Festival of New Work edition — celebrating the next generation of Australian musical theatre creators.

This one-night-only event showcases emerging writers and composers as they share original songs from musicals still in development. With each piece introduced live by the artists themselves, audiences will gain unique insight into the inspiration, creative process, and stories behind the work — all performed by a stellar lineup of rising talent.

Over the years, Home Grown has been an early platform for artists who’ve gone on to shine on major stages, including Baylie Carson (SIX, Mean Girls West End), Vidya Makan (Hamilton, SIX), Kala Gare (My Brilliant Career, SIX), and Imogen Spendlove (Australian Idol Top 12). And yes — it really was the first place “Dead Mom” from Beetlejuice was ever performed on stage, even before Broadway.

Immerse yourself in intimate conversations with the creators themselves as they unveil the context and stories behind the creation of their never-before-heard works, sharing the inspirations that fuel their artistry, and allowing you to engage directly with the creators.
