One dead uncle. Six million dollars. A vacation to die for.
Direct from the Tony Award-winning writing team behind Ragtime and Seussical, Mad March Hare Theatre Co and Hayes Theatre Co proudly present Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty’s sensational cult-classic musical farce, Lucky Stiff.
When mild-mannered English shoe salesman Harry Witherspoon unexpectedly inherits a staggering six-million-dollar fortune from his late American uncle, he believes his ship has finally come in. The catch? A bizarre final request: Harry must take his uncle’s embalmed corpse on an extravagant, action-packed. holiday to Monte Carlo. Think Weekend at Bernie’s reimagined as a high-class, high-stakes musical romp. Armed with sunglasses, a wheelchair, and total desperation, Harry must frantically pass the body off as alive while evading a gun-toting ex-mistress and a relentless Brooklyn dog shelter rep.
Based on Michael Butterworth‘s novel The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo, this deliciously naughty and frantic murder mystery is a masterclass in slapstick comedy brought to you by acclaimed director Claudia Barrie and legendary Musical Director Michael Tyack.
