The one and only Trevor Ashley brings the Australian Premiere of HEATHERS THE MUSICAL, a darkly, hilarious comedy to Hayes Theatre Co. from 16 July. HEATHERS THE MUSICAL is based on the 1988 cult film Heathers that starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater.

Westerberg High is ruled by a shoulder-padded, scrunch-wearing threesome: Heather, Heather and Heather, the hottest and cruellest girls at school. But misfit Veronica Sawyer (Jaz Flowers) rejects their evil regime and falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler (Lucy Maunder) kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to put the Heathers in their place – six feet under.

Written by the award-winning creative team of Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness, Desperate Housewives) and Laurence O’Keefe (Bat Boy, Legally Blonde HEATHERS THE MUSICAL is the latest off-Broadway hit to come to Australia.

This heartfelt, hilarious, homicidal new musical is for everyone who has ever longed to be in the ‘popular’ group or dreamed of taking revenge on the cool kids, or even just for those who long for a better time, filled with shoulder pads, big hair and fluorescent colours.

Directed by writer, director, performer and cabaret star Trevor Ashley (Les Misérables, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Fat Swan, Little Orphan Trashley), starring Helpmann nominees Jaz Flowers (Hairspray, Hot Shoe Shuffle) and Lucy Maunder (Songs In The Key of Black, Grease, Doctor Zhivago) with musical direction by Bev Kennedy and choreography by Cameron Mitchell.
