Silver Tongue is a queer musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island, which up-ends the classic male monopoly on heroes and happy endings. Led by the titular, swashbuckling, female version of Long John Silver, Silver Tongue tells the real story of what went down on that infamous treasure hunt.
With a swashbuckling score and a witty, irreverent book, Silver Tongue is a new Australian musical about misfits finding a place where they belong.
This is a script-in-hand presentation of the show’s current draft, with actors performing at mic stands. All performances of musicals during Hayes’s Festival of New Work are presentations, with no set or costumes, choreography, etc. The writer and/or composer will introduce the work at the start of the event.
