Want to write a musical? No idea where or how to start?
No problemo bestie. I’ve been there & I gotchu πŸ˜Ž

In this two hour, in person, workshop, I’ll share all the tricks, and tools that I’ve collected over years of writing & re-writing (and re-re-re-writing) FANGIRLS, so that you can unearth your weirdest ideas and make them sing.

This workshop is not *just* suited for people who want to write a full-length musical, but for anyone who wants to write a story that has songs in it.

You’ll learn:

πŸ‘‰  How to generate STACKS of ideas for shows, & how to shape them into juicy plots.

πŸ‘‰  Tools I use to generate ideas for plot, characters, songs, scenes, and even lyrics.

πŸ‘‰  How to write a song even if you can’t play a musical instrument – and, how to structure it too!

πŸ‘‰  How to get clear on your POV and your voice as a writer.

πŸ‘‰  Tricks and traps (good traps) for getting to the end of a first draft, how to get un-stuck when you hit a wall.

πŸ‘‰  Tips and tools for re-writing and re-drafting.

😎 This workshop requires ZERO musical ‘talent’ & ZERO writing experience. All are welcome! πŸ˜Ž

FAQS:

πŸ€” Do I need to bring anything? only something to write with! I recommend paper and pen.

πŸ€” Do I need to come with an idea for a show? Absolutely NOT! we are going to dream up STACKS of ideas for shows.

πŸ€” Will there be a Q&A at the end? 100% there will!

πŸ€” Do I have to be a specific age to attend? no bestie! All ages welcome!

πŸ€” What do I wear? Whatever you like! You’ll be sat down the whole time and doing LOTS of writing, but there won’t be any performing or rolling around on the floor.

πŸ€” Will there be masks or social distancing at the in-person workshops? People will be sat next to each other in the auditorium, but we’ll only take up about half the seats – so if you’d like to take some space you’re welcome to sit up the back :) Masks optional.

πŸ€” What’s the deal with the $2 tickets? If you identify as Trans, Disabled or First Nations then these tix are for youuuuuu.
