Six spellers enter… but only one speller can leave a champion! At least the losers get a juice box…

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a wildly hilarious take on adolescence, parenting, teachers, and the
P-A-N-D-E-M-O-N-I-U-M of the world of competitive spelling bees. Centred around a very eclectic group of six mid-pubescent teens, the show effortlessly weaves its way through the motivations and hopes of each competitor as they vie to take home the spelling championship of a lifetime! But which speller will avoid the soul-crushing ‘ding’ of the bell that signals the end of their time in the competition?

Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, Spelling Bee is a riotous ride that has charmed audiences across the globe. With its fast-paced wit and vibrant score, this is an unforgettable and unexpectedly heart-warming experience not to be missed. Not seen on a professional Australian stage since the 2006 Melbourne and Sydney productions that saw stage superstars such as Magda Szubanski and David Campbell bring this hilarious show to life, it’s time to relive the magic in an entirely new way.
